Teams and Clubs

We are fortunate to have several civilian teams based around the UK as well as those hailing from the armed forces. Teams comprise three members for domestic UK competitions, however it's possible to run A and B teams, and so on. Riders without a regular team spot can usually find others in the same situation in the lead up to a competition by posting on our Facebook page and are welcome to make up a team.

Team events are run both as a Section, where competitors ride beside each other and are judged for synchronisation, and in Indian File. This is the ultimate tent pegging test which sees riders run one behind the other in single file. In international competitions, teams comprise of four riders. We compete with three in the UK due to the number of members at present.

Royal Logistics Corps.

The Royal Logistic Corps Mounted Sports Club (RLC MSC) is drawn from all ranks of the Corps, both Regular and Reserve. The Mounted Skill at Arms section is headed up by Maj David Puckey, who is also the BTA Training Officer. The Club provides funding and training support for members of the Corps who wish to learn to compete in Tentpegging. The Club regularly enters two-three teams in UK competitions, keeping the traditional military involvement in the sport alive. Team successes include regular placings, plus winning the team event at Royal Windsor two years in a row, Masters at Arms, and team members on GB Teams. The Team  has also given public displays of Tentpegging at Corps Day and for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in Hyde Park

Pounsley School

of Excellence

The Pounsley School of Excellence (PSE) team is located in East Sussex and
consists of husband and wife team Michael and Tina Smith, with good
friend Adrian Deane.
In 2010 Michael had a serious riding accident. Not knowing whether he
could return to riding or not, Michael started coaching to stay involved with
the sport and set up PSE. Michael now holds his UKLCC Leve. 1 coaching certificate and is accredited by the BTA.

Thankfully Michael returned to tent pegging in 2013 achieving second place in the Ginger Dragon league by one point. His first pupil is Adrian Deane who, in the space of a year,
has leapt from novice tent pegger to being selected to ride on the GB
Team in Pakistan in 2014 - That is some achievement!
Tina is 'behind the scenes,' managing the horses as well as competing successfully aboard. 2014 sees Tina and Adrian out on new young horses so an exciting time lies ahead.

Team Two-and-a-Half

Hailing from Yorkshire, Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire, Team Two-and-a-Half's name was inspired by having two 'normal' sized horses and a 13.2hh pony in the team!

Team members bring a variety of equestrian backgrounds to Tentpegging. Peter is the former Master of Foxhounds for the Badsworth and began riding in his mid-twenties.'Peter rode for GB's B Team at the European International in 2013 and for GB in Sudan in 2014.

Jem competed in mounted games for 20 years, including at World Individual and World Pairs championships, where her top position with Joey was a 4th in the Veterans division in 2006. Jem has competed and coached mounted games overseas and took up tent pegging in 2013 as a 'quieter' alternative to games. She was selected for the GB B Team in her first season so that future may not be so quiet after all!

Jenna has competed in affiliated show jumping and polocrosse for many years and has been a member of the GB Tentpegging team, competing overseas. She can also be found at Battle Proms events throught the UK during the summer, performing as part of a historical re-enactment group.

Team Two-and-a-Half enjoyed a great first season together in 2013, being placed in the top 3 in every team event they entered.
