Team GB in Sudan - January 2015

Jenna Copley, Peter Turland, Michael Smith and Adrian Deane returned home from competing at the Sudan Independence Day International Competition with a prized team bronze placing in the Single File.

Team Manager Tina Ricketts Smith kept the foursome together as they competed against Qatar, Egypt and the host nation.

Team GB rode smaller ponies than the riders are used to back here and fought all week to do their best on the track in Khartoum.

The riders competed in front of visitors from the British Embassy as well as the Second Vice President of Sudan.

Team member Peter said:

'What a great event! Sudan hosted an excellent and strong competition with good horses, a good track complete with floodlights if needed and all were made most welcome.'

'With the temperature during the day rising to 30 - 35 degrees, we did 3 pegging runs in the morning and five in the late afternoon to avoid the main heat of the day.'
