A totally nail-biting competition today on the final day of the event with Team Section Lance and Team Section Sword up for grabs as well as those all-important World Cup final places.

Team GB rocked today! Two bronze in Team Lance and Team Sword. We finished with over 500 points. Each rider will be coming home with two medals and Peter with three.

So ... ITPF World Cup Finals 2016 here we come!

I am so proud of the team GB riders: Michael Smith, Adrian Deane, Jenna Copley, Peter Turland and junior rider Bradley Clifford-Fransman who have done so well in the International competition.

Thanks to Dalene Baska for all her help in getting them on the line. And a big thank you to the horses - who there would be no competition without. And to everyone in South Africa who have organised the most super event at a truely wonderful venue.

Thanks to everyone back home in the UK for their support and our many international friends!

Today is a rest day so we went to the lion park this morning. The park has rescused lions - they all looked very chilled!

We then all went to the water front in Cape Town where Michael managed to get his shopping fix. How we will fit it all in to get it home remains to be seen ...

It was a lovely, relaxed day for all the teams but it's early to bed tonight as there are pegs to be got in the morning. It will be a tight competition down to the wire tomorrow in the Team Lance and Team Sword.

On the second day of competition, first up was Individual Sword.

This class saw ups and downs for our riders but Jenna finished in 5th and Michael 6th so we are knocking on the medal door.

The next class was Oranges and Pegs, with all riders getting good scores but unless they secured two full houses, it soon became clear that no rider would be in the medals.

Leading GB Team rider in this class was Adrian who was so close to the medals but a great performance nonetheless.

Finishing the day's events saw the adrenaline rush of Single File. This was a nail biter between us and Iraq with team GB just missing out on silver but taking bronze!

Overall the team has managed some personal bests and are performing brilliantly on some fantastic horses. Tomorrow is a rest day.

Today day one of competition. First round of lance was amazing for Team GB with every rider scoring. Round two saw Michael sadly miss his last peg so he dropped out the medals but still came 8th.

Rings and pegs class were up next - very close with Bradley 5th and Adrian 6th. Totally amazing day with great riding and team score.

Pairs in the afternoon saw Team GB winning a bronze medal in a three way run off for silver and bronze! Hosts South Africa took gold and silver with Peter and Bradley clinching the bronze. A truly fantastic day for GB tentpegging!

Today was selection of horses and team training. Bradley has now joined the team along with Michelle from the USA who had far more paper work problems with British Airways, so all teams now have their riders.

We have a good draw on the horses with Michael on Trinidad, Jenna on Protem, Bradley on the 'must have' fluffy white pony Tom, Adrian on Raoul and Peter on the sweet little pony Topaz. The team did well with three full houses on rings from Bradley, Michael and Adrian.

We're now at the hotel resting before the opening ceremony. The competition starts tomorrow.

Wednesday, August 5

Just to keep them on their toes with a dose of drama before they'd even left Heathrow and despite everyone's best research efforts, paperwork issues for Bradley (travelling to SA as an unaccompanied minor) meant he had to stay in the UK for a further 24 hours before flying out solo to meet up with the rest of the team, who flew out overnight on Tuesday.

With the riders reunited, it was time to explore the competition venue, draw horses from the pool, discover which mount suited each rider best and crack on with some training in the glorious South African sunshine.
